where the wild things are,

i went to the movies today :D
i had been aching to see where the wild things are but hadn't because i told nicki i would see it with her and she was at hamilton island all week :(

so, today was the day!

i wasn't sure what to expect. i had heard some really bad reviews and some really good reviews, but i guess that's good because i didn't have any expectations of what it was going to be like.

also, because it's a children's book, i was curious to see how it was interpreted into a feature length film.

well,

i was surprised.
i really quite enjoyed it! i was kind of waiting for something to happen - like the climax, but it never really came.

i felt, although this was only my problem with it, it was very well done. the cinematography was wonderful! i enjoy these details of a film, maybe it's the IB film student/IB vis arts student in me that hasn't yet disappeared, but things like cinematography, acting (the boy that play max, was, surprisingly, really good!) and character development makes up for the lack of climax.

the film stayed closely to the story book, but because it was a children's book, there were added details. but i felt they worked quite well.

this film was certainly not for children.
because it was a film adaption of a children's book, it did appealed to the child in me. however there were aspects of the film that would not appeal to children because they simply would not understand it. not too mention it was pretty dark.

deffs go and check it out, if you're familiar with the story it makes the film so much more special!
and also, karen o and the kids features as the music for the film!!!

xx
